Defispot SPOT token: ERC-20 or native coin?
SPOT is Defispot's ERC-20 token on Ethereum, where ETH is the native coin. Its contract address identifies the token separately from the networks that Defispot's cross-chain trading service covered.

How SPOT differs from a native coin
ERC-20 tokens use Ethereum smart contracts to track balances and implement token transfers. A native coin belongs to its blockchain's protocol. SPOT's role within Defispot therefore differs from ETH's role as Ethereum's native asset.
The network and full contract address identify this SPOT token instance. A ticker alone cannot distinguish tokens that share a symbol. Defispot's multichain trading coverage also does not establish a SPOT deployment on every network that the service covered.
Utility described for SPOT
Defispot's November 23, 2021 introduction listed liquidity provision, rewards distribution and governance as intended token functions. The ERC-20 standard itself does not establish an active reward program, a distribution schedule or a payment owed to every holder.
Exchange deposits have separate network conditions
KuCoin's April 19, 2024 listing announcement specified ETH-ERC20 for SPOT deposits and scheduled SPOT/USDT trading for 10:00 UTC on April 23, 2024. SPOT/USDT names the trading pair; ETH-ERC20 identifies the deposit network and token standard specified in that announcement.
On June 5, 2025, KuCoin announced a SPOT deposit suspension for maintenance and said that it would not issue a separate announcement when services were restored. That historical notice does not establish current deposit availability. The exchange's current SPOT deposit status and accepted network need to be confirmed before a transfer.
SPOT selection checklist
- When identifying SPOT in a wallet, match Ethereum and the full token contract address above.
- Before sending SPOT to an exchange, confirm that deposits are open and that the destination explicitly accepts this Ethereum ERC-20 token.
- When assessing a reward or governance benefit, check the applicable program's status and eligibility terms separately from the token's ERC-20 classification.
